In our first meeting we will discuss where you are in your college search. This will include a review of your transcript, activities resume, classes and summer activities. In addition, we will cover your results and/or make plans for the appropriate standardized testing. This will also be a time for you to share with me your likes and dislikes, the subjects you excel in and activities where you shine.
Things to think about pre-interview:
-What degrees and majors interest you?
-Where do you see yourself thriving in terms of campus size, location and distance from home?
-What extra curricular activities are important to you in terms of sports, clubs, Greek life?
Based on the interview, we will devise a list of colleges for you to research. Together we will formulate a list of reach, target and safety schools. In order to narrow your college list, you will "attend" virtual admissions sessions and virtual campus tours. You will also investigate the websites of the schools listed. Lastly, I can connect you to current students who attend a school of your liking to get a true perspective of the campus life.
Many schools use the Common Application, however, some schools require their own application. We will determine which one is appropriate. I will assist you with completing the application(s) and do a final review. We will discuss whether you should apply early decision, early action or regular admission. Your essays and supplemental essays will be reviewed and edited. We will also discuss who would be appropriate to write your letters of recommendation. Lastly, we will practice for schools that require or recommend an interview.
You will be accepted to schools! We will discuss what your final choice is and make sure it is the right fit for you.
